Mid-Quarter Reports

Mid-quarter progress reports are distributed to all students in grades 6-12 at the midway point of each quarter.

Report Cards/Parent Conferences

CDIS operates on a quarter system. Report cards are distributed to students shortly after the close of each quarter. Parent conferences follow the distribution of report cards for the first and third quarters. These conferences are highly encouraged for the parents of all elementary students at the end of the first quarter. At the end of the third quarter, conferences are not required, but can be initiated by the parents or teachers. Parent conferences for 6-12 are always optional and can be initiated by the parents or teachers.

Promotion

In the elementary and middle school, students will be promoted to the next grade level if the requirements for advancement are met, upon the approval of the classroom teacher or teaching team. In the high school students are classified according to the following scale.

  • Grade 9 — less than 6 total credits
  • Grade 10 — less than 12 total credits
  • Grade 11 — less than 18 total credits
  • Grade 12 — more than 18 total credits

Retention

In certain cases, especially that of academic difficulty, retention is a necessary and appropriate tool in the educational strategies that are used for the development of children. While it is recognized that this is a serious action with potentially long-range impact on children and their families, retention will be recommended in certain cases.

Academic Probation and Eligibility

Students with academic deficiencies (an "F" or more than one "D" on a report card) will be placed on academic probation. A student on academic probation may be deemed ineligible for extra-curricular activities. Students who are ineligible will have their eligibility reinstated if they have raised their grades to the proper level by the time of the next quarter report.
